These compact definitions follow the measurement and cost boundaries used in the field guides. For supporting primary documentation, visit the source directory. A term does not replace the exact rules of a device, protocol, pool, or contract.

Accepted work

Work submissions recognized by the receiving pool under its rules. A pool’s accepted-work estimate is different from the miner’s local hashrate display.

ASIC

Application-specific integrated circuit. In a mining context, specialized hardware supports a particular hashing workload; verify the exact algorithm and device.

AuxPoW

Auxiliary proof of work: a supported protocol arrangement that lets compatible chains recognize related hashing work. Algorithm compatibility alone is not sufficient.

Counter

A cumulative event metric that may reset, for example after a restart. Derived rates need to account for the source’s reset behavior.

Firmware

Gauge

An arrangement for a defined hashing service or entitlement. The algorithm, duration, delivery measure, costs, and remedies depend on the actual terms.

Hashprice

The expected value of a unit of Bitcoin hashing capacity over time, commonly expressed per TH/s or PH/s per day. Verify currency and fee treatment.

Hashrate

A rate of hashing work for a specified algorithm. Include the unit, source, and averaging window when comparing observations.

J/TH

Joules per terahash: an energy-efficiency ratio used with a defined hashing workload and power boundary. Device efficiency does not automatically include the facility.

Kilowatt-hour, a unit of energy. In the illustrative calculator, energy equals kilowatts multiplied by the hours of productive runtime.

Merged mining

A supported arrangement relating work to more than one compatible chain. It does not multiply the physical fleet or determine a provider’s payout policy.

Operating contribution

The calculator’s after-fee revenue minus modeled electricity and specified operating costs. Excluded capital and other expenses mean it is not total business profit.

Runtime

A defined fraction of the reporting period. In the calculator it means productive hashing time, not every possible meaning of availability or powered-on status.

Stale telemetry

An observation older than the applicable freshness threshold. It should not silently be represented as a current measurement or a measured zero.
